Noosa meets Kangaroo Point
Joey's is perched on top of Kangaroo Point cliffs, overlooking the Brisbane river and city skyline. On the day I visited it was a beautiful day, so the views down the river were amazing. This was the first time I'd visited here since it had been transformed into Joey's, and as I entered; the cafe had a vibrant and energetic feel. There were a lot of staff, all dressed in white and beige, and everyone that interacted with us was friendly and polite.

An ideal café is more than just about serving exceptional coffee; it’s about creating the right atmosphere.

It's common in cafes nowadays to queue, order, take your number, collect your napkin, then find a table. At Joey's the tables were set with a basic setting; knife, fork, paper napkins and a water glass. This was a nice touch and I knew straight away the hospitality standards were higher.
Simple and fresh

Today I tried my go to breakfast; poached eggs on sour dough. My friends would say I'm predictable, however there's nothing like softly poached eggs with runny centre. The meal came out with well toasted sourdough, the eggs were cooked perfectly and it was nice to see some rocket garnish. The dish also came with heirloom tomatoes and a fresh tomato relish. I also tasted avocado on toast which was served on a generous portion of avocado, Persian feta, dukkah and radish. Garnished with rocket, this was also a delicious dish.

TRENDING NOW: PASTRY
Croissants and pastries are certainly trending now. With specialist bakeries such as Lune now the rage, everyone has fresh croissants and an assortment of danish pastries to choose from. Joey's is no exception with an array of freshly baked offerings.

ART IN A CUP
Order a flat white today and we all expect to see some form of art in our cup. I ordered a flat white and I was not disappointed. The coffee was beautifully presented with nicely textured foam, crema and delectable art. The coffee was medium strength and just the right temperature.
Coffee on the go

Menus were presented on a wooden clip board, the design matched the wicker decor. The breakfast selection was extensive with gluten free and vegan options. The average pricing was around $20 for a meal.

The cafe had a compact production area that was positioned adjacent to the main seating area. This made sure the carrying distance for food and coffee was minimal.

Just inside the main entrance there was an outdoor seating area with tables and umbrellas. This is where I found the outdoor coffee cart that helped produce coffee for take way customers.
Quirky and different

The cafe also sold iced water .... everyone does, but Joey's presented bottles on ice in an extra dressed with a pineapple, somehow making the water seem so more inviting!

At the entrance to the cafe, Joey's also promoted a merchandise range. Positioned right under the pastries. Customers could grab a Joey's cap or t-shirts along with their croissant!

Who else does water like this? In the cafe there was a water dispenser that staff could fill the water bottles. As I mentioned before, the pineapple touch makes this area feel so much more natural.
Stephen's Take

Joey's was a surprise package for me. It already had location, location, location but it also packaged good food, good coffee and good service into the mix. The furnishings , decor and the Noosa feel really gave this venue a wonderful touch. However; because staff took orders at the table this increased the service level and customer experience.
