The Inchcolm Hotel, oozing Spring Hill charm
This year The Inchcolm Brisbane changed management, ending their relationship with Ovolo to join Ode Hotels. Ode Hotels recently launched their new brand with an offering of 3 unique heritage hotels including; The Old Clare Hotel in Chippendale, Harbour Rocks Hotel in The Rocks, Sydney, and The Inchcolm in Spring Hill, Brisbane. Each boutique hotel is full of history and charm and has a story to tell. I stayed at the Ovolo Inchcolm prior to the handover to Ode Hotels, so let's check in and let me show you around.

HOSPITALITY MAGAZINE
This is my go to hospo site, it's a great source of Australian hospitality news and industry insights.
It's easy to navigate, the HM team showcase hospo venues, publish their magazine and they run an annual leaders summit.
Check out the video link for helpful short videos.... and don't worry you don't get dragged off to youtube!
Free NewsletterBean SCENE
I find this site a bit of a brain tease, when you think you know a bit about coffee something new comes along and changes everything. Did you know there is a new machine that textures milk perfectly every time? I discovered that at Bean Scene!
BeanScene promotes and supports a growing Australian coffee industry, check it out and start receiving the newsletter.
ASCIA
This is the Australasian society of clinical immunology and allergy, although this site is aimed at the medical profession it is still highly relevant to hospitality.
There is so much information and it's thorough. I find the food allergy fact sheets excellent as handout activities.
The Wheat allergy fact sheet states what DOES and COULD contain gluten as well as alternative products, food labeling laws, cross contamination and precautions.
OLGR
Get information straight from the horse's mouth and update your currency at the same time!
OLGR's "Inside Liquor" newsletter contains the latest information relevant to Queensland's liquor and gaming industries.
Check out their site, they also offer RSA refresher courses... there is no need to do a full RSA program.

Do you teach the process transactions unit? Well this app is a handy tool to help learners grasp currency conversion.
Attend hospitality exhibitions & conferences
Trade shows, exhibitions and conferences are a great way to meet people and learn about hospitality, but don't limit yourself to local... think global! There are so many opportunities everywhere. It's fun to connect with experts, chat to suppliers, buy cool stuff, or do a workshop! Be liberated; free yourself from the classroom and awaken your passion for hospitality!

Link with hospitality associations
The hospitality industry is diverse ...... from accommodation and food & beverage, to events and gaming, there are many associations that support and advocate for their area of the sector.
Some associations provide access to news feeds, information on conferences & events, and articles on new innovations and challenges facing the industry.
Many of these associations promote membership to businesses rather than the
individual. So, while membership may be out of reach, it doesn't stop us
actively engaging with them through their news feeds to maintain an awareness of what's happening in our industry.
