BUSINESS EVENTS

Business Events News targets conference organisers, hoteliers, venue managers, suppliers and industry people keen on keeping in touch with what is going on in the events sector.

The site a little more formal and the publication reads like a newspaper rather than a blog. The publications can be handy student handouts for discussion.

Events eye

A favourite website of mine, I use this to search hospitality trade shows.

Eventseye focuses on providing a reliable source  of  upcoming worldwide exhibitions & trade shows. While these exhibitions will not be "event" related, it's still a great site to identify events to visit. Then you can learn about the venue, while investigating and observing the event operations.

Attend events, exhibitions & conferences

Trade shows, exhibitions and conferences are a great way to meet people and learn about events, but don't limit yourself to local... think global! There are so many opportunities everywhere. It's fun to connect with experts, chat to suppliers, buy cool stuff, or do a workshop! Be liberated; free yourself from the classroom and awaken your passion for events!

Link with event associations

The events industry is diverse and there are many associations that support and advocate for their area of the sector.

Some associations provide access to news feeds, information on conferences & events,  and articles on new innovations and challenges facing the industry.

Many of these associations promote membership to businesses rather than the individual. So, while membership may be out of reach, it doesn't stop us actively engaging with them through their news feeds to maintain an awareness of what's happening in our industry.

EVENT SERVICE PROFESSIONALS ASSOCIATION
EPSA is an American association representing event service professionals from hotels and convention centres across North America. They offer an annual conference and webinar series and event resources. As expected membership is required, however the EPSA has a special education price that is quite reasonable.

MEETINGS EVENTS AUSTRALIA

MEA is the longest standing association that represents event professionals. A free membership is available that allows access to MEA TV, a tailored news feed, research reports and employment opportunities. An individual membership is also available, although pricey, greater benefits are included such as discounts to events and complimentary webinars.

EXHIBITION & EVENT ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALASIA

The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) is the peak industry association for those in the business of trade and consumer expos and events. The membership is price prohibitive, however they have an informative news feed, and links to upcoming events around the country.

PROFESSIONAL CONFERENCE ORGANISERS ASSOCIATION

The PCO Association is the leading body representing the interests of Professional Conference Organisers and Event Managers in Australia and New Zealand. The annual membership fee is reasonable and provides benefits such educational resources, networking and discounts to industry events. They also offer an event manager certification program.
